New arrivals
The first prototype hammers were made in Mr. Estwing's basement. He knew his idea was a good one, but he received little or no encouragement from the trade since he had to sell these hammers for double the price of the wooden hammers.
Undeterred, Mr. Estwing launched his first ad in 1925 in the magazine "Carpenter": a fiasco ...
Still confident that a market existed for his tools, he began purchasing his own machines and employees were hired and trained in " the tradition of quality that has been the foundation of Estwing Products ".
Today this tradition continues: Steel with high carbon content, forging quality for all Estwing tools.
During the economic crisis of the 1930s (1929 to 1939) the growth of the company fell, but no married employees were made redundant. After WWII Estwing really started to develop. Many new striking tools have been added, the factory facilities have been expanded. This expansion further increased the popularity of quality Estwing tools.
Another Estwing innovation: The introduction of the exclusive Estwing nylon-vinyl grip. This blue handle is the most durable handle of all striking tools and it enlarged and completed the "luxury product with the laminated leather handle" line.
After more than two years of testing ... New innovation: the " Shock Reduction Grip " from Estwing reducing the vibrations caused by impact by 50% ... at the same time the ergonomics of the grip have been improved.
In 2001, all nylon handle tools had this system.
